History

The building along Pokrovskaya Street (now Lenin), which houses the cinema, appeared between 1874 and 1902. (exact date unknown). In 1902, V.P. Zhuravlyova asked permission from the Perm City Duma for permission to erect a stone two-story annex to an existing building. In 1904, there was an insurance company, then - the office and warehouse of musical instruments of I. M. Zhuravlev. In 1910, there was already an "illusion", that is, a cinema.

In 1911, the Triumph Electric Theater was opened in Perm, which was the fruit of the labor of an engineering community involved in the construction, installation of heating, ventilation, water supply, sewage and the manufacture and sale of electrical installations. This partnership was located in a large three-story building, built in 1909 on the corner of Perm and Siberian streets. For the cinema in 1913, the Zhuravlevs building was rebuilt. For this, it was expanded to two windows on the second floor, and a tunnel was made on the first floor. To the left, two doors led to a wide staircase, separated by a thick rope. Through one door, visitors came to the movie show, through the other they left it.

Advertising of that time reported that the Triumph elegant electric theater was made according to the best foreign models, it has luxurious furnishings, a grand foyer, an electric fountain with fish, as well as a buffet. At the windows stood various plants: palm trees, ficus, dracaena. The ceiling of the auditorium was decorated with modeling, in the center of the ceiling was an oval divided into 4 parts, in one of which was the number “3”, in the rest - the letters “U”, “M”, “F”, forming “Triumph”.

Dumb films were shown at the cinema, so a string orchestra played in the cinema. Two ladies in velvet dresses and with the same hairstyles were invited to the audience.

Since 1920, the winter theater of watermen “Rest of the barge hauler” functioned in the cinema building. Meetings were held here, after which various films were shown.

In 1932, the cinema was rebuilt. Two doors were added on the right side of the building - one in the lobby and the other in the ticket office and sideboard. A stationary acoustic installation was also mounted, which made it possible to demonstrate sound films: in the cinema, sound films “Golden Mountains”, “ Battleship Potemkin” , “ Chapaev ”, “ Trip to Life ”, “ We are from Kronstadt ” were shown. Before the start of the session, concerts of professional artists and amateur groups were held in the lobby of the "Triumph".

May 20, 1932 in the cinema the first demonstration of a sound film took place. [one]

In 1933, the cinema was renamed "Artistic".

Since 1936, children's films were shown at the cinema.

In 1957, the first widescreen film was shown at the cinema.

In 1998-1999 the theater underwent reconstruction and was renamed back to "Triumph". New cinema equipment and a digital sound system were installed in the building.

On April 2, 2008, the cinema showed its latest painting “ 10,000 years BC ” and was closed due to unprofitability [2] .
