Attack
On June 2, 2008, a suicide bomber in a car bomb detonated an explosive device near the Danish Embassy in Pakistan . A car with a suicide bomber detonated in the embassy parking lot, killing six people and causing injuries for another 24. Danish foreign intelligence officials concluded that al-Qaeda was behind the attack.
On June 5, 2008, al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack. The militants reported on their website that the attack was a response to the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten and their cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in 2005, as well as the presence of Danish troops in Afghanistan .
