Rosario ( Spanish: Rosario ) is a city in the southwestern part of Uruguay , in the southeast of the Colony department.

Geography
It is located about 14 km west of the city of Nueva Elvesia , 51 km northeast of the administrative center of the department - the city of Colonia del Sacramento and 130 km northwest of the country's capital, Montevideo . The city is located on highway No. 2, 2 km north of its intersection with national highway No. 1. Along the northern and northeastern extremities of Rosario, the Kolya River flows, which flows into the Rosario River on the southeastern outskirts of the city. The absolute height is 18 meters above sea level [1] .
History
The city was founded on January 24, 1775. August 17, 1920 received the status of a city ( ciudad ) [2] .
