History
In the upper reaches of the Athos ravine, on the lands of the village of Markov, two ponds have long been known. Most likely, they were arranged for agricultural purposes (a watering place for livestock). Later, the upper pond was filled up, and the lower pond was preserved, but was artificially reduced and chained to concrete. [one]
Description
Wrong quadrangle. Area 0.7 ha. The maximum depth is 5 meters. They beat the keys because of which the pond is always full and does not dry out. In spring, in high water, the pond is filled with streams running from Zyuzino Park. Before the reconstruction of the Zyuzino park, in 2013, there was no drainage device in the reservoir and in heavy rains, often there was flooding of the park from the north-western side of the pond.
At the moment, overflow flow, through a system of pipes, discharges excess water from the Athos pond into the Vodyanka river , which, connecting with the Chertanovka river, flows into the Gorodnya river .
All shores are well-groomed, clean, reinforced with pine piles around the perimeter. Along the shore there are numerous benches for relaxation, stylish lanterns, for coastal walks in the dark, an asphalt path framed by tiles. Fish ( crucian carp , rotan , etc.) are caught in the pond and crayfish are found . Local residents flee from the heat in the summer near the pond, some swim in the water, although swimming in the pond is officially prohibited. Japanese buckwheat has grown on the northeast coast. The water is visually clear. The shores are clean.
On the northern shore of the pond, a temporary Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was erected. [2] Subsequently, in its place as part of the program for the construction of Orthodox churches in the city of Moscow [3], the Temple of the Holy Martyr Veniamin Petrograd in Zyuzin will be erected.
