Sergey Alexandrovich Martynov ( April 30, 1971 [1] [2] [3] , Moscow , RSFSR , USSR ) - Soviet and Russian classic-style wrestler , silver medalist at the Olympic Games, multiple champion of the world and Europe, repeated champion and prize-winner of the championships of the USSR. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1991) [4] .

Biography
He began wrestling in 1981 [4] .
In 1991 he won the World Cup, in 1992 he won the European Championship. He was included in the Olympic team . At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, he fought in the weight category up to 62 kilograms. In his category, 21 athletes fought, divided into two groups, in each of which the athlete dropped out after two defeats . The remaining top 10 wrestlers (five from the group) played among themselves places from 1 to 10, taking into account the points that they received in preliminary fights.
In battles:
- in the first round, he won with a score of 8-1 against Alexander Davidovich ( Israel ), getting 3 points;
- in the second round, he won with a score of 4-0 against Mario Buttner ( Germany ), having received 3 points;
- in the third round he won with a score of 9-8 against Wlodzimir Zavadsky ( Poland ), having received 3 points;
- in the fourth round, he won 4-2 against Hugo Dieche ( Switzerland ), getting 3 points;
- in the fifth round, he touched Buddy Lee ( USA ), having received 4 points;
In the final fight, he met with Mehmet Akif Pirim ( Turkey ) and lost to him with a score of 13-2, becoming the silver medalist of the Olympics [5] .
In 1993, he again won the World Cup, and the first place was awarded to the fighter based on the results of the protest filed by the Russian delegation. The protest was satisfied, which was the first case in the history of the Russian struggle [6] . Before the next Olympic Games, he twice more became the world champion and won the European Championship.
He was included in the Olympic team . At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, he fought in the weight category up to 62 kilograms. In his category, 19 athletes fought.
- in the first round he won 3-0 against Choi Sang Sion ( South Korea );
- in the second round, lost with a score of 5-4 to Juan Luis Maren ( Cuba );
- in the third round, the decision of the judges was won after a draw 6–6 against David Zuniga ( USA );
- in the fourth round he lost with a score of 7-2 Kobe Guliashvili ( Georgia ) and remained on the 8th place on points.
After the end of his sports career, he became a coach, was the head coach of the Russian Armed Forces in wrestling.
