Biography

Born on May 18, 1951 in an urban-type settlement Dubovyazovka, Konotop district, Sumy region of the Ukrainian SSR . Russian. After graduating from high school, he entered the St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television (at that time the Leningrad Institute of Film Engineers), but soon completed his studies in connection with family circumstances. In 1969 he began serving in the Soviet Army . After serving in the army, in 1971 he entered the Riga Higher Military Aviation Engineering College named after Jacob Alksnis . He graduated from college with honors, which allowed him to work at the Cosmonaut Training Center (CPC). His first post in 1975 was the position of an engineer of control and recording equipment in the 70th separate test training aviation regiment for special purposes named after V. S. Seregin , which was attached to the CPC [2] [3] . Since 1980, Viktor Alekseevich Ren began to work as a space technology tester in the flight test department of the CPC flight service [2] . Now he is the deputy head of the 3rd Directorate (special types of cosmonaut training) of the Cosmonaut Training Center [1] .

During his time at the CPC, he performed many experiments and studies within the framework of various areas of the CPC activities. He participated in 15 experiments to establish the upper limit of the impact of harmful conditions on the capabilities of the human body. Such experiments include: staying for 3 days in the open tundra beyond the Arctic Circle at temperatures up to -60 ° C; stay for 70 hours at sea in a rescue lander with heavy rolling; stay for 3 days in the summer desert with daily temperature differences from +15 to +55 ° C with a water supply of 2 liters for the entire duration of the experiment; stay in a heat chamber at air temperature up to +80 ° С and many others. These experiments are necessary because such or similar situations can occur during or at the end of a space flight [1] .

Viktor Alekseevich Ren participated in tests and medical experiments at all dynamic test benches of the CPC. He made over 900 flights in the air laboratory to check the effect of overload and weightlessness on the human body and to develop the skills of astronauts in these conditions. Moreover, the total time spent in zero gravity was more than three days, and the total time spent in overload conditions was more than five days, with the duration of one regime of overload or zero gravity usually not more than 30 seconds. To develop skills of work in zero gravity for over 400 hours he worked underwater in spacesuits or in special apparatuses [1] [4] . He has completed over 2000 parachute jumps and has experience of landing on unusual and small sites. Some jumps were made both from a height of several kilometers, and with ultra-small for a parachute jump of a height of 100 meters. [2] . Twice catapulted while testing a new simulator-catapult [4] .

For courage and heroism shown during the test of aerospace technology, by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of November 24, 2005, Colonel Reny Viktor Alekseevich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation [5] [6]

Viktor Alekseevich Ren is responsible for the special training of Russian and foreign cosmonauts. All cosmonauts of the Russian Federation were trained by him personally. He is the inventor of a number of unique techniques currently used to train astronauts. For example, he co-authored with Dolgovy Pavel Pavlovich, Gidzenko Yuri Pavlovich and Tsibliyev Vasily Vasilievich owns a valid patent for a device for simulating sea waves, which relates to means for preparing astronauts for operations after landing a spacecraft at sea [7] .

He continues to work at the Cosmonaut Training Center . Lives in the Star City of Moscow Region [1] .
