Biography
Born in a large family of a peasant herder Ubash Ayusheev. From a young age, he was distinguished by the qualities of a leader, ingenuity, extraordinary courage and natural tempering. In Buryatia, he became known in the 1920s and 1930s as the legendary Okinovsky, the Great Okinsky Charlai ( drill: Akhyn Ehe Charlei ).
In the first years of Soviet power, he participated in military operations against anarchist groups on the territory of the Tunkinsky and Okinsky uluses. In 1921, he alone captured more than twenty armed White Guard officers of General Kappel, who were trying to break into neighboring Mongolia. He was presented to the highest award of the USSR - the Order of the Red Banner, was awarded the registered weapons of the People's Commissars of the Soviet Republic.
He was the initiator of the creation of the Oka aimag [2] as part of the Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , and for many years led the aimag executive power, including during the Great Patriotic War .
He was a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Buryat-Mongolian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic . He was elected to the Supreme Council of the Buryat-Mongol Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of the first convocation.
He participated in the organization of work on the demarcation of the state border of the USSR on the territory of aimak [3] .
In the summer of 1973, Sharlai Ayusheev refused comfortable housing in Ulan-Ude , represented by the leadership of the republic, in favor of flood victims.
He died in July 1974 in the Kyrensk hospital from injuries received as a result of an accident.
Family
Sharlai Ayushev had a large and friendly family. Today in Oka live his many relatives, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.

Since the 1930s episodes from the life of Sharlai Ayusheev were published in Burya Unen by journalists Philippe Ilyich Baldaev , Vladimir Dorzhievich Galsanov, Klim Dasheevich Tuluyev and others.
Legends about his extraordinary courage, natural tempering, wisdom and kindness of Sharlai Ayusheev are still circulating in the Oka. For long evenings he could tell Uligers to neighboring children about Abay Geser Khan , spend hours manually cutting hay, swimming in an ice hole, spending months in the winter taiga without supplies of warm clothes and food.
The name of Sh. U. Ayusheeva is a street in the village of Orlik of the Oka district of Buryatia [4] .
