Nothalten ( fr. Nothalten ) - a commune in northeastern France in the Grand Est region [1] (formerly Alsace - Champagne - Ardennes - Lorraine ), Lower Rhine department , Celeste-Hersten district , canton Obernay [2] . Until March 2015, the commune was administratively part of the abolished canton of Barr (Celeste-Hersten district).

Geographical position
The commune is located approximately 380 km east of Paris , 36 km south-west of Strasbourg [3] , on the Wine Route of Alsace . Code INSEE commune 67337.
The area of the commune is 4.0 km², the population is 452 people [4] [5] (2006) with a tendency towards stabilization: 465 people [6] (2013), the population density is 116.3 persons / km².

The population of the commune in 2011 was 462 people [7] , in 2012 - 460 people [8] , and in 2013 - 465 people [6] .

Economy
In 2007, among 293 people of working age (15–64 years old), 229 were economically active , 64 were inactive (the activity indicator was 78.2%, in 1999 it was 75.9%). Of the 229 active, 220 people worked (116 men and 104 women), there were 9 unemployed (1 man and 8 women). Among 64 inactive 22 people were students or students, 31 were retired, 11 were inactive for other reasons [10] .
In 2010, out of 302 people of working age (from 15 to 64 years old), 242 were economically active , 60 were inactive (an activity indicator of 80.1%, in 1999 - 75.9%). Out of 242 active able-bodied residents, 218 people (112 men and 106 women) worked, 24 were unemployed (13 men and 11 women). Among 60 able-bodied inactive citizens, 20 were pupils or students , 32 were pensioners , and another 8 were inactive for other reasons [11] [12] .
