Alejandro Francisco Casanias Ramirez (born January 29, 1954, Havana , Cuba ) is a Cuban athlete , hurdler , two-time silver medalist of the Olympic Games (1976, 1980) in the 110-meter hurdles , former world record-holder at this distance.

In 1977, at the summer Universiade in Sofia, he set a world record for 110 meters running with barriers , showing a time of 13.21 seconds. The record lasted two years and in 1979 was improved by the American athlete Renaldo Nechemia .
As a Cuba record, this result lasted until 1993. Later it was surpassed by Emilio Valle (13.19; 13.18), Anyer Garcia (13.11; 13.07; 13.06; 13.00); Dayron Robles (12.87 - world record) [1] [2] .
