Stages
Compared to the previous year , the number of stages increased by 1, from 13 to 14, although their length was slightly reduced. Stages from the 2nd to the 6th (in the east of the country) were considered mountainous, the rest are flat. The route again included the German Alsace-Lorraine , where border guards detained the peloton in both cases of border crossing, at the 2nd and 3rd stages. At the 4th stage, the riders drove through Geneva . Given that Alsace-Lorraine later returned to France, the Tour of 1907 was the first to go beyond the modern borders of the state.

Race
110 racers showed up for the race, 17 of them did not start. Emil Georges looked much stronger than his rivals: of the first 9 stages, he won 5, and led with great advantage over the closest pursuers, Lucien Petit-Breton and Louis Trussellier . On the day of the 10th stage, Louis Trussellier demanded the disqualification of the leader, since during the 9th stage he changed his bicycle, although any outside help was prohibited. The organizers made a milder decision: they moved Georges to the last place in the protocol of the 9th stage, from 4th to 48th. Emil sank to 4th place in the overall standings, but Louis Trussellier was not satisfied with this, and his whole team left the race in protest.

For Petit-Breton, the victory at the 9th stage remained the only one on the Tour, but, having reached the first place, he retained a great advantage over the remaining 33 racers until the finish of the multi-day race, primarily over Gustav Garrigou . Jorge became the 3rd, he was also awarded the prize for the best miner.
