Geography
The ulus is located at the southern foot of the Small Khamar-Daban ridge to the west of the Gegatuy river (the left tributary of the Dzhida ), 9 km north-west of the district center - the village of Petropavlovka . 3 km south of the village runs the regional highway P440 Gusinoozersk - Zakamensk .
History
The first mentions of the Gegatuy area appear in written sources at the beginning of the 19th century in connection with the founding of the Sartul-Gegatuy datsan . How the Gagatui ulus was formed around the 1910s. In 1931, a school of peasant youth was opened in the village.
