Biography

Born on October 25 ( November 7 ), 1916 in the city of Rostov-on-Don, in a working class family. Russian. He graduated from 7 classes. He worked as a locksmith. Engaged in flying club.

In 1936 - 1938 he served in the Red Army . In 1939 he was again drafted into the army. He participated in the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939 - 1940 . As a graduate of the flying club he completed an internship and was allowed to fly Po-2 aircraft. He made several sorties on the Karelian Isthmus. In January 1940 he was shot down by anti-aircraft artillery, made an emergency landing. Already on the ground, in a shootout with the Finns, he was seriously wounded. After the hospital was demobilized, the wound blocked the road to heaven.

In June 1941 he was again drafted into the Red Army and sent as an ordinary shooter to the 87th separate NKVD battalion. As part of the battalion, he served in the security service in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg ) at important industrial facilities, bridges. Only in the summer of 1943 he achieved transfer to the front line.

In the summer of 1944, Soviet troops conducted the Pskov-Ostrovsky operation. In the course of it, an enemy group of forces was defeated and the ancient Russian cities - Pskov and Ostrov - were liberated. In these battles, the Red Army soldier Sergei Shalashov distinguished himself.

By order of the commander of the 291st Infantry Division of July 30, 1944, for the courage and bravery shown during the seizure of the bridgehead on the western bank of the Velikaya River, Sergey Mikhailovich Shalashov was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree (No. 112995) .

During the further offensive, Shalashov participated in the battles for Tartu, which was released on August 25. In the battles for this city, he was injured, after the cure he returned to his unit. In January 1945, Sergeant Shalashov fought on the 1st Ukrainian Front as part of the same division. He already held the position of assistant platoon commander of the 313rd separate reconnaissance company and often led reconnaissance groups.

In February 1945, acting as part of an intelligence group west of the town of Beiten (now Bytom, Poland), he liquidated the enemy firing point, captured 2 soldiers and seized a car with valuable cargo.

By order of February 18, 1945, Sergeant Shalashov Sergey Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree (No. 9996) .

On the eve of the attack on Beiten, at the head of a reconnaissance group with radio operators secretly entered the city and equipped an observation post near the station. Scouts transmitted intelligence to the headquarters of the division for several days. The information received by the scouts greatly helped in the liberation of the city. For this reconnaissance raid, all participants were awarded the orders of the Red Star.

In further battles, Shalashov’s scouts repeatedly participated in successful raids behind enemy lines. So, on April 5-7, 1945, in the battles southwest of the city of Strelen (now Strzelin, Poland), Sergeant Shalashov and his scouts destroyed over about a company of machine gunners and captured four officers.

In total, during his service in intelligence, Sergeant Shalashov had eleven “languages” and dozens of Nazis destroyed on his personal account. The last reconnaissance search was carried out by reconnaissance officer Shalashov on the night of May 7, 1945, when the division in which he fought went to the aid of rebellious Prague. In a night battle, he was slightly injured (fourth for the war), but continued to lead a group of scouts until she completely completed the combat mission. On May 18, 1945, the division commander introduced the assistant commander of the reconnaissance platoon, Sergeant Shalashov Sergey Mikhailovich, to be awarded with the Order of Glory of the 1st degree.

On June 24, 1945, Sergeant Shalashov, as part of the consolidated regiment of the 1st Ukrainian Front, marched along Red Square in Moscow at the Victory Parade.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945 , Sergeant Shalashov Sergei Mikhailovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree (No. 617) for exemplary execution of command assignments in battles against Nazi invaders. He became the full holder of the Order of Glory .

In 1945 he was demobilized. He returned to his hometown. He worked as a master at the Rostov pasta factory. He died on December 19, 1986 .
