General Description
A Boeing BBJ is usually a 737 model with a significantly redesigned cabin. BBJ1 was built on the basis of 737-700 with some elements of the 737-800 model. BBJ2 and BBJ3 are built on the basis of the 737-800 and 737-900ER, respectively.
Differences from the usual Boeing 737:
- Winglets that increase fuel efficiency by 5-7%, as standard (on conventional Boeing 737 they are optional equipment)
- Additional fuel tanks
- ETOPS -180 Certified
Competitors
A similar program is with Boeing's main competitor, Airbus . A subsidiary of Airbus Executive and Private Aviation is transforming passenger models into business jets. The department offers all Airbus models (except A321) in ACJ or Elite versions. In the small aircraft sector, Embraer Lineage , Bombardier Global Express , Gulfstream G550 and G650 compete with the Boeing BBJ.
