Chen Jianghua ( Chinese trade. 陳江華 , ex. 陈江华 , pinyin : Chén Jiānghuā ; born March 12, 1989 , Guangzhou , Guangdong ) is a Chinese professional basketball player who currently plays for the Guangdong Southern Tigers Chinese Basketball Association and the national the national team of China . Career
Club career
In 2001, Chen, with three graduates from the Weilun Sports School ( Guangdong ), won the 3-on-3 Nike China Streetball Competition in Shanghai and got the opportunity to travel to the United States . In Dallas, his game was noted by Wang Zhizhi , who told CCTV reporters that a guy can easily do dunk .
Chen then spent six months with classmate Tan Zhengdong at the American Basketball Academy in Eugene, Oregon . In a local newspaper, former Oregon Ducks point guard Luke Ridnur noted the speed of a young Chinese player.
Chen first became famous in 2003 when an article about him appeared in the New York Times editorial. This was followed by an article in the Boston Globe and ESPN magazine .
In 2005, Chen took part in the Reebok ABCD summer camp, where one of the participants, Wil Harris, said of him: "This is the best unknown talent in the world."
International Career
Chen was invited to the first team of China to participate in the 2006 World Cup , even though he was 17 at that time. He was invited to the tournament by the Lithuanian national team coach Jonas Kazlauskas . At the tournament, he spent an average of 10.3 minutes on the floor, scored 3.5 points per game and gave one assists. [one]
At the age of 19, Chen also joined the national team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics basketball tournament . He played for the PRC national team at the 2012 Olympics , but the team did not leave the group.
