An Afghan citizen's passport is used exclusively for international travel. Valid for 5 years. Since September 2011, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan began to introduce two types of British-style computerized identity cards for Afghan diplomats and government officials [1] .
The general government estimates the introduction of computerized identity cards at $ 101 million and plans to start in 2012 [2] . This will bring the country's passport system closer to the international standards of the electronic passport system. It is assumed that the replacement will prevent future election irregularities, corruption and improve security in the country [3] .
