Bautino ( Kaz. Bautin ) is a village (formerly an urban type settlement) [1] in the Tupkaragan district of the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan . The administrative center and the only settlement of the Bautinsky rural district. The KATO code is 475235100 [2] .

Geography
It is located on the shore of the Tyub-Karagan Gulf of the Caspian Sea at the western tip of the Tyub-Karagan Peninsula 4 km northwest of the city of Fort Shevchenko [3] .
History
It was founded in 1847 as the Russian fishing village of Nikolaev near the newly built Novo-Petrovsky fortification.
Renamed Bautino in honor of Bautin Alexei Egorovich, the head of the Bolshevik Revolutionary Committee of the village, who was killed by the whites in 1919.
Population
In 1999, the population of the village was 3737 people (1872 men and 1865 women) [4] . According to the 2009 census , 4344 people lived in the village (2180 men and 2164 women) [4] .
Economics
A major center of the fishing industry of Kazakhstan. Base for seals and fish, fish canning, ship repair plants. At the fish canning factory there are workshops for the production of canned fish, fishmeal, dressing of seal skins, and a tin-can workshop. Highways connect Bautino with the cities of Aktau and Fort Shevchenko, sea routes with the cities of Atyrau and Astrakhan [3] .
Earlier, near the village there was an airport of the same name .
Port of Bautino
Through the port of Bautino, international cargoes are needed for oil companies. The main cargo transported is brick, shell rock and other building materials. Every year, the port passes up to 150 thousand tons of cargo. In winter, sea water near the bay freezes. The thickness of the ice is 20-30 centimeters, in other years reaches 80 centimeters. Around the bay accumulated a large number of sunken and old ships. The land around the bay is owned by various companies [5] .
The port of Bautino is used by NCOC as a support base for maritime operations, there is also a branch of the Aktau International Sea Trade Port , and bases of TenizService, EnkaInshaat and Caspian Service Group [5] .
The construction of the Bautino Offshore Operations Support Base (BPMO) began in 1998. The port has become a logistics center for the offshore oil industry in the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea and a safe haven for ships for long cold winters. The base is operated by the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) oil consortium. BPMO is a strategic place for all offshore projects (food, sewage and sludge management system, household and industrial waste management point, packaging, pipes, etc.). All objects are located on an area of 110 hectares, 5000 m² of which are occupied by offices, warehouses, workshops, ports and landfills [6] .
