Biography

His full name is Abul-Kasim Suleiman ibn Ahmad ibn Ayyub ibn Mutayyir al-Lyahmi al-Shami at-Tabarani. Born in Tiberias ( Palestine ), lived and died in Isfahan . He began his studies at the age of 13; studied with famous theologians of his time [4] .

At-Tabarani had an excellent memory and knew by heart more than 3,000 hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad with chains of their transmitters. To collect and study hadiths, he traveled extensively in Syria , Iraq , Hijaz , Yemen and Egypt [4] .

Among the famous students of Suleiman at-Tabarani were Amr ibn Abdul-Khalik al-Basri and Abu Bakr al-Bazzar .
