Bregmacer ( lat. Bregmaceros ) is a genus of marine ray- fin fish from the monotypic family Bregmacerotidae of the cod - like order. They live off the coast of tropical and subtropical seas.

Body length is from 2 to 12 cm. Two dorsal fins and one long anal fin. The first dorsal fin consists of one elongated beam. The ventral fin is located under the head. The chin tendril is absent.
