Born in the city of Igumen, now Cherven, Minsk region of Belarus, in a peasant family. Jew . After graduating from 7 classes, he worked as a carpenter.

In the Red Army since 1936. He participated in the campaign of Soviet troops in Western Belarus in 1939. At the front in World War II since July 1941. In 1942 he graduated from the Tambov Cavalry School. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1943.

The commander of the telephone and cable platoon of the 107th guards separate communications company, candidate for membership of the CPSU (b) guard, Lieutenant Semyon Gurevich was especially distinguished when crossing the Dnieper River north of the village Domotkan of the Verkhnedneprovsky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine.

On the night of September 25, 1943, the guard Lieutenant Gurevich with four signalmen under enemy fire on a boat and swam across the Dnieper and, laying a cable line, established a connection between the command posts of the regiment and division.

When on September 27, 1943, a group of Hitler machine gunners leaked to the rear of the regiment and the connection with the left bank was interrupted, Gurevich led the signalmen to the attack and personally destroyed more than ten Nazis. Communication has been restored.

After the war - in stock, lived and worked in Minsk. He was buried at the Eastern (Moscow) cemetery in Minsk.

Rewards

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 26, 1943, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown to this, Lieutenant Gurevich Semyon Sholomovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal "(No. 1378).

He was awarded the Order of Lenin, orders of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree, Red Star, medals.
