Safia Farkash (maiden name is al-Brasai ; born in 1952) is the second wife of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi and the mother of seven of his eight children.

Birth
Safia was born in the city of Al-Baida, in the east of the country, where she also learned to be a nurse. [1] [2] [3] According to another version, Sofia ( Hungarian. Farkas Zsófia ) was born in Bosnia and has Bosnian, Croatian [3] [4] [5] and Hungarian roots. [2]
Meet the Husband
She met Muammar when they cut out appendicitis in 1970. [6] They got married the same year. [7] [8] [9]
Children
Safia Farkash gave birth to 7 children, namely:
- Saif al-Islam (born June 25, 1972) is the couple’s first son, politician, and likely successor to his father. [ten]
- Saadi (born May 25, 1973) is a professional football player and politician.
- Mutassim Bill (December 18, 1974 - October 20, 2011) - a military man, politician, died with his father. [eleven]
- Hannibal (born September 20, 1975) is a naval officer, known for his violent disposition.
- Aisha (born in 1976) - the only daughter, a lawyer, defended on the courts of Saddam Hussein and Muntazar al-Zaydi . [7]
- Saif al-Arab (1982 - April 30, 2011) - died during a NATO air attack. [12]
- Khamis (May 27, 1983) - the youngest son, a military man, the leader of 32 Khamis brigades. [13]
There were two adopted children - a son Milad and a daughter Hannah. [14] [15]
- Hannah Gaddafi is a foster daughter. Killed in childhood by a US air raid in 1986 (there is also evidence that she did not die).
- Milad Gaddafi is an adopted son, a native nephew. It is believed that saved Gaddafi from death in 1986.
Muammar's first son, Muhammad, was from his first wife.
Politics and Business
She didn’t interfere in politics, she was engaged in business. Safia owned an airline transporting people to Mecca for hajj . Safia's fortune is estimated at $ 30 billion .
Civil War
August 29, after the capture by the rebels of Tripoli , Safia, her daughter , son and stepson , as well as members of their families fled to Algeria [16] . In October 2012, she received asylum in Oman and moved there with her family [17] .
