Biography

After serving for about 4 years as a midshipman in the English fleet, in 1783 he joined the Baltic Fleet in the same rank.

Then it was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet. Until 1787, was annually cruised off the coast of Crimea. In 1790, with the rank of lieutenant commander in Rear Admiral Ushakov’s squadron, he distinguished himself in battles in the Kerch Strait and near Odessa , and in 1791 he participated in the case at Varna near Cape Kaliakriya .

In 1798 he was appointed commander of the 46-gun frigate Kazan Mother of God . [1] In the autumn of the same year, due to Napoleon’s campaign in Egypt , he participated in conjunction with the English squadron in the blockade of Alexandria. After that, with his frigate, he joined the squadron of Captain 1st Rank Senyavin , who guarded Corfu before taking in February.

In 1799, as part of the Russian-Turkish squadron, the captain of the 2nd rank Voinovich left for the second siege of Ancona. In 1800, he drove from Ancona to Trieste the Queen of Naples, Maria Carolina . In 1804 he was appointed commander of the Varahail ship, and then the Yagudiiel , on which he cruised across the Black Sea and twice carried reinforcements and various supplies to Corfu.

In 1807, he participated in an expedition against Anana and Trebizond . After breaking with England, he was sent inside Russia and returned to the fleet only in 1811 and was appointed commander of the 110-gun ship Poltava .

In 1816 he was promoted to rear admiral , and in 1826 - to vice admiral . During this time, he repeatedly traveled along the Black Sea with training squadrons, commanded the 2nd brigade and served as commander of the Sevastopol port.

In 1828, when breaking off relations with Turkey, he cruised with a squadron near the Bosphorus , took several merchant ships and, being under siege of Varna, distinguished himself in the presence of the Emperor, for which he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir of the 2nd degree (01.10.1828). This squadron included the frigate Rafail . [2]

He was also awarded the Order of St. George of the 4th degree (No. 1418; November 26, 1802 ), St. Vladimir of the 3rd degree (12.12.1819), St. Anna of the 1st degree (02.28.1823).

He died in Sevastopol in 1829 at the age of 64.
