The name of the club from the Dari language literally translates as Waves of Amu . Amu is the common abbreviation for the Amu Darya River, one of the largest and longest rivers in Central Asia .
Like many current football clubs in Afghanistan, it simultaneously represents several provinces of Afghanistan on a geographical basis. So, “Mavjhai Amu” represents the northeastern provinces of Afghanistan, such as Badakhshan , Tahar , Nuristan , Panjshir , Baglan and others, which are mainly inhabited by Tajiks , Pamir peoples and Nurists . Like the rest of the country's football clubs, home games due to security reasons in connection with the ongoing armed conflict in the country are held in the capital of Kabul , at the stadium of the Football Federation of Afghanistan , which seats 5,000 spectators.
He got into the Afghan Premier League as a result of qualifying games. Some of the players were selected as a result of a television casting show called "Green Field".
