Casting
In the television series, the role of Andrea is played by Lori Holden , who signed a contract to participate in the project in May 2010 [3] . Holden had previously starred in two films by Frank Darabont, producer of the series, Majestic and Mist , and is one of the actors, along with Melissa McBride and Jeffrey Demann , who appear in several different projects of Darabont. Before filming, the actress read a comic book to analyze her character and noted that here she has to put more physical effort than in other projects, as her character gradually becomes a warrior in the comic book [4] .
Feature
The Hollywood Reporter described the heroine as "one of the key surviving heroes of a comic book that knows how to handle a sniper rifle and falls in love with a man twice his age" [5] . In the series, Andrea appears more morally exhausted in the first season and tries to commit suicide in the season finale, but Dale saves her. Starting from the second season, the character's character changes significantly and she becomes almost fearless [6] .
Relationships
In the comic, Andrea has a connection with Dale [7] . In the television series, the authors decided not to include a love story in the plot and limited themselves to friendship between the characters, and Dale was ultimately killed near the end of the second season, much earlier than in the comic book. Holden was shocked by his departure and felt that it would be possible to explore their history in the show for some time [8] . Also in the second season on the farm, Andrea had an affair with Shane, who died in the comic long before the events on the farm [9] . In season 3, becomes the mistress of the Governor. Having learned at the end of season 3 that the Governor was deceiving her and intended to destroy all the members of Rick’s group, she tried to warn her former comrades. She was captured by the Governor and returned to Woodbury. Andrea was chained to a dental chair and locked with Governor Milton dying at the hands of Governor. She managed to free herself, but turned into a zombie Milton bit her. In order not to turn into a walker, she shot herself in the head.
