Comes from Scotland. Noble (nobleman) Etienne Liftorty in 1496 was listed as captain of the cuirassiers in the service of the Dukes of Savoy. Over time, he settled in the city of Coney of the Principality of Piedmont (now Northern Italy), where he married Maria Picard (Le Picard). Etienne had at least two children: one bore the name of his father, the name of the second did not survive.
By the middle of the XVI century. two grandchildren of Etienne Lefort, Jean Damien and Jean Antoine (1517-1590), moved to Geneva - the then refuge of the Protestants persecuted by the Catholic Church. The line of Jean Damien, who had no male heirs, was interrupted. Jean Antoine became the Ancestor of all subsequent Leforts. In 1565, he received a letter from the city for the acquisition of civil rights.
His son Isaac (1574-1652). Subsequently, Catherine and Jacob were born. Catherine (1577-1614) married Abel Senebier, member of the Grand Council of Geneva. Apparently, his descendant, Captain Senebier, accompanied Franz Lefort during the Great Embassy of Peter I. Four of the children of Isaac Lefort survived: Jean , Daniel , Marie and Jacques .
Jacques (Jacob; 1618–1674) [1] inherited the parental status after the death of the brothers. His daughter Andriena . Then Ami (Amadeus; 1642-1719), Isaac , Maria , Eve , Misha , Jacques (1653-1732) and Franz (1655/1656 - 1699) were born - a Russian statesman and military leader, admiral general, associate of Peter I.

Lefort (the name Amadeus was translated into Russian as Bogdan) [2] [3] .

Emblem Description
In the azure field there is an elephant of natural colors with a raised trunk and under a golden blanket encumbered by a black two-headed eagle; on the back of an elephant a natural wooden tower is set.
The shield is crowned with a baronial (Austrian) crown over which a helmet with a noble crown is placed. Crest: black double-headed eagle with golden nimbuses (Austrian). Namet: Azure with a silver lining. Shield holders: two turned lions (natural flowers). Foot: "board" in the color of the shield holders.
The emblem is a modified family coat of arms of Lefortov: the palm tree is removed, on the back of the elephant there is a cover over which, instead of a palm tree, the battlement began to rise - Fort .
