About the album
Even before the official release of Sea of Cowards, the album was posted by the group on the official site for free listening during the day from April 30 to May 1. On May 3, the band played an exclusive concert in the studio of Third Man Records, during which the Sea of Cowards was performed in full. The performance was available for online viewing on MySpace , and soon appeared on The Dead Weather on YouTube . May 7, Sea of Cowards was released in Ireland , May 10 in the United Kingdom and May 11 in the United States . In the Billboard 200 chart, the album reached 5th place, which lasted 7 weeks. [1] In the list of 30 best albums of 2010 according to the Rolling Stone Sea Sea of Cowards took the 11th place. [2]
In an interview with The Sun, Jack White explained the title of the album Sea of Cowards ( Rus. Sea of Pants ): “The Internet allows people to spit poison and beat other people in a cowardly way - using fake names. It seems to me that people absolutely do not teach the current generation of responsibility. The Internet allows people to make a statement that the whole world can read or hear, but they are too cowardly to leave their real name. ” [3]
