Function
MMP14 specifically activates gelatinase A. May be involved in the reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton by the cleavage of PTK7 . It acts as a positive regulator of cell growth and migration through the activation of another metalloprotease MMP15 . May contribute to tumor invasiveness.
Interacts with BST2 , TIMP2 . [1] .
Tissue specificity
MMP14 is expressed by stromal cells of the colon, mammary gland, head and neck. It is also expressed by lung tumors.
