Theofil Zhebrawski ( Polish: Teofil Żebrawski ; April 5, 1800 , Wojnicz - February 5, 1887 , Krakow ) - Polish mathematician, architect, biologist, cartographer, surveyor, archaeologist and bibliographer. He is considered the founder of modern Polish mathematical literature.

Biography
Theophilus Zhebraski was born on April 5, 1800 in the city of Wojnicz (now Tarnowski County of Lesser Poland Voivodeship ). After receiving secondary education in 1818, he began to study philosophy, natural history, mathematics and astronomy at the Jagiellonian University . He later entered the Mining School in Kielce , where he studied construction, cartography and the organization of the mining industry. In 1832, Teofil Zhebrovsky received a doctorate in philosophy and humanities from the Jagiellonian University.
From 1832 to 1834, Teofil Zhebrasky was engaged in teaching, later worked at the Department of Natural History and Botany of the Jagiellonian University. From 1837 to 1853 he was the state inspector of water and land communications in Krakow.
Scientific activity
Theofil Zhebravsky’s activities concerned various scientific fields. He wrote works on the construction of roads and railways, bridges, cartography, entomology and topography.
In 1873, Teofil ебebraski published "Bibliografija piśmiennictwa polskiego z działu matematyki i fizyki oraz ich zastósowań" ("Bibliography of Polish literature in mathematics and physics and their applications"). He also developed a dictionary of Polish, German and French architectural, construction and materials science terms. Theophile Zhebravsky worked on topographic maps and studied the species change of butterflies in the vicinity of Krakow.
From 1825 to 1831, Theophilus раebraski triangulated lands near the cities of Warsaw, Dobrzyn nad Wisla, Sandomierz, the environs of окwiętokrzyskie Mountains and the Vilnius province . Part of these triangulations was used in the development of the map of the Kingdom of Poland , which was published in 1839 .
In 1830 he took part in the Polish uprising with the rank of lieutenant of engineer troops in the corps of General Jozef Dvernitsky .
In 1833, Teofil Zhebrasky published a map of the Free City of Krakow , in 1834 - the city of Krakow itself and a map of the resorts of Galicia and Bukovina.
In the 30s of the XIX century, Theofil Zhebraski designed and built a road throughout the Free City of Krakow with two bridges across the rivers Krzeszówka and Dlubnya.
Theophilus Zhebraski renovated the Dominican Church , the altar in the Mariacki Church and the royal chapel on the Wawel Hill in Krakow .
In 1866 he became a member of the Krakow Scientific Society and in 1872 - a member of the Academy of Knowledge .
