Theo and Miriam Siebenberg, who bought the house in 1970, were convinced that it was built on an area that has significant archaeological value. But archaeologists were skeptical, so Theo Zinenberg was forced to conduct and finance the excavation on their own.

On the excavations carried out under Siebenberg's house for 18 years, remains of ancient dwellings with numbers carved into the rock, mikvahs ( ritual baths ), aqueducts , huge repositories and crypts built 3000 years ago during the time of King Solomon and the First Temple period were discovered; as well as the buildings of the Second Temple and the Byzantine periods. The museum also features rare artifacts , including ceramics , glassware , mosaics , coins , vessels and weapons [1] [2] .
