Reviews

  • Andrei Shcherbak-Zhukov writes in Nezavisimaya Gazeta :

The province is the same everywhere - be it America or Central Russia. The heroes of these stories by Bradbury are mostly old people and children. Children with inherent tender age energy are looking for meetings with the unknown. And the old people keep the patriarchal way. Young people are looking for love. And the middle generation, as always, is inattentive and does not notice anything but their own affairs. So, uncle and aunt in the story “Big Fire” are sure that they will make an offer to their niece, because she spends every evening with a very good and caring young man, and only her grandmother draws attention that every night a young man is different ... Girl in the story “ Screams from underground "hears what adults do not want to hear, and yet she manages to prevent a terrible crime and save a woman buried alive by a jealous husband ...

These stories are for the most part simple. They no longer have frank fiction, no starships and other planets. The wise old Ray Bradbury no longer needs this. He knows that every day can be wonderful, and each person is a separate planet. He not only knows this, but also knows how to tell us all.
