Biography

Sergey Gritsyuk was born on April 8, 1963 in the village of Kovalevka in the Nikolaev district of the Nikolaev region of the Ukrainian SSR . He graduated from high school, in 1980 he entered the Ordzhonikidze Higher Military Command School of the Internal Troops. He served in various positions in the Dzerzhinsky Separate Motorized Rifle Division for operational purposes . By October 1993, she was deputy commander of the 2nd motorized rifle battalion [1] .

On October 4, 1993, the division’s division was instructed to walk along Nikolaev Street to Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment , and then go up to the White House and cover with armored personnel carriers people who would leave from there and take them to a safe place. Gritsyuk was in an armored personnel carrier with tail number 450, along with Private Oleg Petrov and Lieutenant Alexander Mikhailov . At the entrance to the White House from the alley of Glubokoy, an armored personnel carrier was fired from a heavy machine gun . In the course of further advancement, he was hit. According to eyewitnesses, this was done by servicemen of the 119th Guards Parachute Regiment of the 106th Guards Airborne Division , who mistakenly mistook the Internal Troops unit for supporters of the Supreme Council trying to break through to help those blocked in the White House. Gritsyuk and Petrov died on the spot, Mikhailov subsequently died from his wounds in the hospital. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Novaya Balashikhinsky district of the Moscow region [1] .
