Coral World International was founded in the mid-70s by entrepreneur Morris Kann. The company is currently managed by his son Benjamin Cann. The entire organization includes four aquariums around the world: The Underwater Observatory in Eilat, Israel, the Ocean Center in Maui, Hawaii, USA, AQWA in the city of Perth, Australia, and Palma Aquarium, built on the island of Mallorca, Spain.

The aim of the company and its inspiration was the idea of ​​creating underwater observatories, exactly recreating the ecosystem and the natural habitat of marine animals and plants. For achievements in this field, the Times awarded Benjamin Kann the “Man of the Year 2008” award in the “Ecology” nomination.

Mediterranean

Palma Aquarium is one of the few aquariums in Europe where new coral breeding is underway.

Mediterranean Botanical Garden

In the green zone of the Aquarium there are several pools with turtles, freshwater carp, sea bream and slopes. There is also a cafeteria and a pirate ship. In the summer months, the park has an extensive entertainment program with children: children's makeup, water battles, shows and more.

Jungle

Jungle - exactly replicated part of the rainforest. It is the largest tropical roof garden built in Spain and one of the largest in Europe. Powerful waterfall and sprays create a unique wet microclimate necessary for plants from the Amazon.

Gran Azul is the deepest shark aquarium in all of Europe. Its parameters: depth - 8.5 meters, width - 25 meters, length - 33 meters. It has 3.5 million liters of salt water.

Gran Azul is inhabited by 8 sharks: 2 gray-blue sharks, and 6 sand-tiger sharks, as well as more than 1000 other fish specimens. Visitors descend to the central viewing platform through a transparent tunnel. Due to the fact that sharks and rays swim from above, the effect of direct immersion into the sea depth is created.

Jellyfish Aquarium

In a cylindrical aquarium with special lighting, more than fifty jellyfish of the most common Mediterranean species are paraded - Aurelia Aurita.

Palma Aquarium is also an entertainment center for all ages.

The conservation and restoration of biological species is the basis of the scientific research of the Palm Aquarium. The programs for breeding and rehabilitating corals and coral reefs in artificially controlled environments (ICS) are carried out here.

In addition, the Palma Aquarium launched a campaign to protect the Mediterranean tuna, which is due to overfishing on the brink of extinction. In the Aquarium, a special exhibition is devoted to this species.

Also, Palma Aquarium cooperates in the campaign to protect the endemic type of Schisandra Limonium - barceloi, found exclusively in the south of the Balearic Islands.

As part of environmental protection programs, the professional team Palma Aquarium participates in the rescue and rehabilitation of marine animals. The aquarium conducts joint scientific work with a number of universities and research institutes in the field of restoring rare populations, diminishing in number, and also on the verge of extinction of animal species.
