Biography
Stanislav Amelin was born on October 24, 1975 in the city of Kemerovo in a Russian family. In 1992, Amelin graduated from high school and before being drafted into the army, he worked as a student of the electrician at Severnaya mine. Being drafted into the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces, he served in the 242nd Training Center of the Airborne Forces ( Omsk ), then in the Pskov Airborne Division . For four months he took part in hostilities in the territory of the Chechen Republic . In January 1996, Amelin joined the riot police at the Department of Internal Affairs of the Kemerovo region. A few months after his enrollment in the detachment, Amelin, as part of the Kuzbass Special Purpose Police Detachment, arrived in the Urus-Martan district of the Chechen Republic.
On July 9, 1996, near the village of Gekhi-Chu, a group of police officers - riot policemen were ambushed. The group’s armored personnel carrier was blown up by a mine and came under enemy fire, using grenade launchers and small arms. In a heavy battle, several people from Amelin’s squad were injured. Amelin himself, under heavy fire of the enemy, helped to evacuate the wounded from an armored personnel carrier and managed to suppress the enemy firing point with marksmanship. Having been wounded, the police sergeant continued to fight, but was mortally wounded in the chest by a sniper bullet. Of the last forces, Amelin continued to cover up the retreat of his comrades, but died on the battlefield.
He was buried in Kemerovo.
By a decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated April 16, 1997, police sergeant Amelin Stanislav Alexandrovich was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

Memory
Police sergeant Amelin is forever enrolled in the lists of the Kemerovo riot police. A memorial plaque was installed on the house where he lived. In memory of the Hero, competitions in official all-around for the cup of his name are also held.
Secondary school No. 34 of the city of Kemerovo in 2002 was named after the Hero.
