Biography
Born on January 3, 1921 in the village of Durovo-Bobrik, Lgovsky district, Kursk region, in a peasant family. Russian Member of the Komsomol since 1939. In 1939 he graduated from high school. He entered the Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Institute .
In October 1939 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . In the battles of World War II since 1941. He fought on the South-West, Stalingrad, Central and 1st Ukrainian fronts.
In September 1943, a battalion of G.I. Guryev captured and held a bridgehead in the area of the village of Krushnyaki on the right bank of the Pripyat River. In seven days he repelled 16 enemy attacks, which contributed to the crossing of other units.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, on the courage and bravery shown during the crossing of the Dnieper and Pripyat, the guard Captain Guryev Grigory Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
He died in battle on November 15, 1943. He was buried in the village of Morozovka, Brusilovsky district, Zhytomyr region.
