Biography
Born February 14, 1962 in Kostroma .
In 1985 he graduated from the cinema department of the screenwriting and cinema department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK). In 1991 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of art criticism on the topic βInterrelation of aesthetic and extra-aesthetic factors in the evolution of cinema of early years (1895-1932)β.
In 1991, he starred as an actor in Rustam Khamdamov βs film βAnna Karamazoffβ .
In 1991 - 1996, he worked at the Museum of Cinema as the head of the non-fiction film sector, deputy director for scientific work, scientific secretary.
In 1996 - 1997 he was vice-rector of VGIK for scientific and creative work. Since 1997 - Head of the Department of the History of Russian Cinema, the Research Institute of Cinema; It is engaged in computer reconstruction of "dead" films, as well as the restoration and scoring of pre-revolutionary films.
Since the beginning of the 1990s, he has been teaching at the Higher Courses of scriptwriters and directors .
Published in the journals " Cinema Notes" , "The Art of Cinema" . The author of articles on the history of animation and "drawn sound."
He participated in the jury of various festivals.
