Lake Oahe is a large reservoir formed by the Oahu Dam on the Missouri River in South Dakota . The area of the lake is 1,500 km 2 , the maximum depth is 62 m. In terms of water volume, it takes the fourth place among US reservoirs and the first in area . The length of the lake is about 372 km, the length of the coastline is 3 620 km. The lake has an important recreational value, annually it is visited by about 1.5 million tourists.

Zander , pike , channel catfish , small perch live in the lake, chinook salmon is artificially acclimatized, it is a popular object of amateur and sport fishing.
The lake begins at the city of Pierre and stretches north to the city of Bismarck . Two bridges were thrown across it. One is located on the US 12 Highway in Mobridge , the other on the US 212 Gettysburg . A significant part of the western shore of the lake is occupied by the Cheyenne River and Standing Rock Indian Reserves. On the shores of the lake are two possible burial places of the Indian leader of the Sitting Bull .
