Story
The documentary silent picture illuminates the biased preparation of an anti-Jewish trial on the false accusation of Mendel Beilis . "Facts" for exposing an innocent person are selected during a booze and by forced squeezing testimonies in apartments. Unwanted information in newspapers is simply discarded. Quiet and steady Mendel Beilis (in the person of Yakovlev) says goodbye to his family, puts on a jacket and hat and leaves, accompanied by the police. Shows the baseness and self-interest of people, for example, "detective journalist" who stole firewood and was convicted by Mendel, could not miss the opportunity to take revenge. The film is supplemented with subtitles that comment on the lawsuit.
History
In 1917, the Provisional Committee of the Cinema Union decided to consider the screening of the painting “Vera Chibiryak, or Blood Libel (The Beilis Case)” unacceptable. Soon, two more organizations joined this resolution: the United Film Publishing Society and the All-Russian Society of Theater Owners. In connection with these resolutions, he did not show this film. The picture managed to be shown only in the cinema "Forum", but after the resolutions the show there was stopped [2] .

Now that the censorship chains have been broken, it has become possible to artistically and objectively resurrect such a nightmarish affair of the old man-hating regime as the Beilis affair. There was an opportunity to touch the backstage springs and threads of this "medieval process." A few days ago in Kiev, the famous writer NN Breshko-Breshkovsky staged for him a large complex storyline staged for the screen by the movie drama "Blood libel." The best forces of the Solovtsovsky Theater took part: Kuznetsov, Yakovlev, who made up for Beilis for illusion, Tsenin and artist Khodakovskaya. The artist Meshchersky played Scheglovitov. Aerial shots were taken in the very places where the famous Bailisiada played out four years ago. Here is a two-story house on Lukyanovka, where Vera Chibiryak lived, and Beilis’s house 200 steps away, the Zaitsevsky factory with its picturesque surroundings, and the same cave on the steep bank of the Dnieper, where Yushchinsky’s body was found. The plot of the drama is in one of the Black-Hundred Petrograd salons. Do old wounds need to be stirred up? Is it necessary to make a “drama of 2000 meters” from the extracted tears?
