Build
Re-equipment was started on January 24, 1925. A large hangar was built in the central part of the ship's hull; superstructures and two chimneys were located above the hangar. The roof of the hangar was a kind of flight deck, used for pre-flight preparation of aircraft.
Air Group
In total, the ship could take on board up to twenty seaplanes, which were launched using two catapults . Catapults were located in the bow and stern of the ship. After landing on water, seaplanes boarded using cranes through special side gates in the walls of the hangar.
Service
"Giuseppe Miralia" participated in the operations of the fleet during the Italo-Ethiopian war and the civil war in Spain . With the outbreak of World War II it was used as a training ship, after September 1943 - as a floating base of Italian submarines in Malta . After the war, it was used to transport Italian prisoners of war, then as a floating barracks in Taranto . Sent for scrap in 1950.
