The Croatian Ground Forces ( Croatian Hrvatska kopnena vojska ) is the most numerous type of Croatian armed forces , whose role and goals are to protect the vital national interests of the Republic of Croatia , maintain and protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state.

The appointment of the Croatian Ground Forces is the defense of the Republic of Croatia on land. The main tasks of the Croatian ground forces are to prevent the aggressor from penetrating deep into the territory, preserving vital strategic objects, ensuring mobilization of the military and defeating the aggressor, as well as developing and developing the ability to respond to requests to fulfill non-traditional tasks for the Croatian army (in case of floods, fires, natural disasters disaster).

History
The Croatian army was formed during the years of the war in Croatia , when on November 3, 1991, the Croatian National Guard was renamed the Croatian Army.
Numerous Croatian army units emerged from the Croatian National Guard, in particular:
