Construction and discovery

In 1965, a stone was laid at the intersection of two avenues and Khudayberdin Street, which determined the place of the future monument - the obelisk of Glory in honor of the Sterlitamakovtsy, who did not return home from the fronts of World War II . The work on the monument was entrusted to the sculptor Mikhail Pavlovich Shabaltin and the future architect, then a student of the Moscow Architectural Institute, Boris Alexandrovich Milyutin. The opening of the monument took place on May 9, 1967. At the feet of the four-meter figure of a Soviet soldier with a torch in his hand is a star from which the flame of the Eternal Flame beats [1] . Behind the soldier’s back, a stele initially rose in the form of two symbolic sweeping wings — lifted up and lowered.

Monument

The memorial ensemble includes:

  • Monument to the Unknown Soldier (Soldier-Liberator);
  • Eternal Flame - at the foot of the monument;
  • Stele of memory of the Sterlitamakovtsy who died during the war, on which the inscription: “In memory of the citizens who died in the Great Patriotic War” is stamped.

Value

The monument is a venue for urban celebrations associated with the Great Patriotic War, every Victory Day at the foot of the monument on the square held a concert for veterans, flowers are laid on the Fire [2] . The memorial is also one of the favorite places for newlyweds to visit - they are photographed against the background of a soldier and go for a walk in Victory Park, located behind the monument.

Reconstruction

After construction, the monument was reconstructed, the stele behind the warrior was removed.

In 2012, before May 9, searchlights were installed on Victory Square, which include holidays. A warrior lighting was also installed.

In August 2013, a comprehensive reconstruction of the monument and Victory Park took place.

The reconstruction project of the Victory Park and the Eternal Flame monument was developed in Sterlitamak in 2013. The total area of the square is 2.9 hectares. The changes affected the monument to the Sterlitamak team, who died during the Great Patriotic War (a monument to the Unknown Soldier). The updated monument is made of bronze, its height is six meters, the weight is about 1.5 tons, the material is bronze. After reconstruction, the monument was opened on October 9, 2013. Along with the monument to the Sterlitamak people who died during the Great Patriotic War, the memorial complex dedicated to soldiers-internationalists was renewed: they replaced all the granite facing, installed the built-in lighting, carried out the organized drainage system from the monument, expanded the area of the memorial complex. [3] In 2014, flower beds were broken directly in front of the memorial complex. On May 9, 2014, the renovated Victory Park was solemnly opened, in which the monument to the soldiers-internationalists was updated, the T-34-85 tank, artillery cannon, anti-aircraft cannon, and the Grado MLRS installation were installed.
