Biography

Igor Zadorozhny was born on November 2, 1975 in the Taldy-Kurgan region of the Kazakh SSR . He graduated from high school, then studied at an agricultural technical school in the city of Prokhladny, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic,. In 1994, Zadorozhny entered the VVVKKU Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation. In 1999, he graduated from the Vladikavkaz Military School of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, after which he served in the Far Eastern 21 Special Forces "Typhoon"

Since 2000, Zadorozhny made four business trips to Chechnya to combat gangs. He took an active part in 73 special operations and 28 intelligence outlets.

In January 2003, Captain Igor Zadorozhny commanded the 4th assault group of the Typhoon special forces . On January 28, 2003, the group discovered a militant base near the village of Yalkhoy-Mokkh and, when approaching the militant base, a self-propelled mine exploded, his right leg was torn off, and he was injured in his other leg and right arm. Decided to evacuate the group. When you try to exit a group from a given point, it is ambushed. The commander fired artillery fire, cutting off his group from militants with artillery fire. As a result of the clash, the militant base was destroyed, and Zadorozhny miraculously survived, but did not leave the battlefield, continuing to command the actions of his subordinates. As a result of the group’s actions, the task was completed.

Zadorozhny was evacuated to the hospital, where his second leg and right arm were amputated. Despite the disability he received, Zadorozhny did not see himself in any other place than in military service and addressed the Commander-in-Chief of the Internal Troops V.V. Tikhomirov asking to leave him in military service.

By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated November 11, 2003 for “courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty in the North Caucasus region,” Captain Igor Zadorozhny was awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation with the award of the Golden Star medal .

Since 2003, Zadorozhny served in the 8th Special Forces Unit "Rus" of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, and ended up serving as the head of the inquiry group. Despite the most serious wound, in 2005 Igor Zadorozhny had a son - Nikita, and later three more sons: Daniil, Alexander, Gabriel. In 2008 , when the detachment was disbanded, Zadorozhny was transferred to the reserve with the rank of major.

Currently lives in Moscow , works as the head of the military-patriotic association "Warriors of the Fatherland", plays sports, participates in the development of methods for the rehabilitation of disabled people. In 2006, Zadorozhny performed at the international athletics marathon of disabled athletes in New York . He is a parishioner of the Russian Orthodox Church;
