Biography

Nina was born in Stuttgart , Germany . Father, Willy Hoss, unionist and politician; mother, Heidemar Roverder - actress of the National Theater of Stuttgart, later - director of the Württemberg State Drama Theater (Württembergischen Landesbühne Esslingen).

At the age of seven, she began performing in radio plays, and at age 14 she first appeared on stage [1] . In 1997 she graduated from the Theater School in Berlin . Her first success was the role of Rosemary Nitribitt in the movie "Rosemary's Lovers" in 1996. Collaboration with director Christian Petzold helped her win several awards: in 2003, she received the “Adolf Grimme Award” for her role in the film “Wolfsburg”. In 2007, the role of Yella in the film Yella brought her “Silver Bear” for her best actress at the Berlin Film Festival [2] . In 2019, at the 67th San Sebastian International Film Festival, Nina Hoss was awarded the Silver Shell Award for Best Actress [3] .
