Biography
Born in Moscow. In 1955, after graduating from high school, he entered the Physics Department of Moscow State University . In 1961 he graduated from the Physics Department of Moscow State University. In 1961-1971 - graduate student, junior researcher at the Physics Institute. P.N. Lebedev . In 1971-1976 and 1978-1982, he was a senior researcher at the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 1976-1978, scientific secretary, since 1982 head of the sector of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Doctor of Physics and Mathematics since 1987. Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Nuclear Physics, specializing in nuclear physics since 2000.
The author of more than 200 scientific papers.
He was buried at the Nikolo-Arkhangelsk cemetery (plot 24) [1] .
Scientific activity
He made a significant contribution to the theory of the formation of baryon asymmetry of the Universe, to cosmic ray physics, neutrino astrophysics of the Sun, to the theory of cosmological phase transitions and the cosmology of the early Universe, to the study of the fundamental principles of symmetry and conservation laws in elementary particle physics and quantum field theory.
In 1964, he proposed a gallium-germanium method for detecting solar neutrinos, together with G. T. Zatsepin put forward a comprehensive program of solar neutrino spectroscopy.
In 1966, together with G. T. Zatsepin, he predicted the existence of the Graisen – Zatsepin – Kuzmin limit [2] .
In 1970, he proposed a physical model for the formation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe in CP-non-invariant decays of heavy particles at the nonequilibrium stage of cosmological expansion.
In 1970, he pointed out the possibility of neutron-antineutron oscillations, developed a theory and put forward a proposal for an experiment to search for this phenomenon.
In 1985, together with V. A. Rubakov and M. E. Shaposhnikov, he predicted the existence of fast transitions with nonconservation of the baryon number in the early Universe at high temperatures [3] .
