Story
Oliver Queen is a frivolous hangman and thrill seeker. After another drunken trick, he decides to join his bodyguard Hackett in a voyage on a yacht just to be faithful to them. Hackett stuns Oliver and throws him overboard, after which he nails to an abandoned tropical island.
Oliver survived in harsh nature, using only bow and arrows made from improvised means, finding that he was a born archer. The struggle for life on the island for months taught him to appreciate simple joys, and, for the first time in his life, he felt happy.
However, things turned out to be worse than he expected when it turned out that the island was not as abandoned as he thought. The woman, whom he called himself China White , enslaved the indigenous people of the island and forced them to grow opium and produce heroin in the vents of an extinct volcano around which the island formed. It also turned out that Hackett was heading here on a yacht, since he was working for this woman. After a fight with him, Oliver is seriously injured. Taiana, one of the locals, saved him from death.
Her selfless act of kindness opened Oliver's eyes to the guilt that he had felt all his life: guilt for stepping over the destitute on his way to the top. In order to repay his debt to Taiana for help, he decided to devote his life to the struggle for the rights of the oppressed. He frees the slaves captured by China White, armed only with Howard Hill's collectible bow (purchased at an auction before departure) and a dozen arrows.
When authorities appeared on the island, Oliver significantly downplayed his role in liberating the island. He sacrificed fame for attracting a gang of criminals to protect the lives of the people of Taiana. Realizing that basking in the rays of glory and being in the spotlight is no longer his lifestyle, Oliver decides to live a double life - a cheeky millionaire by day and a hero fighting crime - at night. Upon returning to Star City, his hometown, he makes a costume and takes himself the name given to him by Taiana - the Green Arrow.
