History

The monument was inaugurated on May 9, 1985 in honor of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War . The authors of the monument were the sculptor, laureate of the USSR State Prize V. M. Klykov , Honored Architect of the RSFSR R. I. Serdzhiev, architect V. I. Snegirev, as well as designer B. S. Gurvich.

The idea of the monument is that the three figures - the image of a worker who forged a shield, a warrior with a sword and Mother Motherland - represent the unity of the feat of both the front and the rear in the war against fascism . The figure of the worker is turned east, the figure of the warrior is directed westward, towards the enemy who has come from there. All three statues are of the same height to show the equality of the feat of the worker and the warrior, as well as the proximity of Motherland to all.

The monument is an important city attraction, and since 2005 its restoration has been carried out every year. In addition, the monument was reconstructed in 2001 and 2003.
