The Internet in Poland first appeared on September 26, 1990 . On April 30, 1991, the .pl top-level domain was registered, in which Jan Sorensen, the head of computer training at the University of Copenhagen, personally tried. The most popular connection types are ADSL types Neostrada and Net24, the largest providers are TPSA and Netia. - FTTH. Speeds vary from 100 to 900 Mbps.
According to OECD and Eurostat, the prices for Internet services in Poland were among the highest in the world: this is due to the low qualification of those working in the field of Internet technologies and the narrow application of the latest technologies. Modern providers Dialog and GTS Energis offer the cheapest services in Poland, but it’s the TPSA provider that is popular with it. In February 2011, an unsuccessful attempt was made to persuade TPSA management to lease at least 51% of their lines to other providers in exchange for a 60% discount on the cost of their services.
According to surveys, 72% of users of the Polish Internet segment use the network daily, and 19.1% of respondents said they make Internet access several times a week. Of the respondents, 93.8% go online at home. Most Internet users are people with secondary education (41%), followed by people with higher education (26%), followed by people with primary education (17%) and special technical education (16%).
