Balakovo district is an administrative-territorial unit within the Samara province of the RSFSR with a center in the city of Balakovo , which existed in 1919-1924 .

De facto, Balakovo district was separated from Pugachevsky in 1918, but it was not legally registered. Legislatively Balakovo district was approved by the authorities of the Samara province on April 9, 1919. Initially, the county included 20 volosts:

In September 1919, the Krasnoyarsk and Malo-Bykovskaya volosts were abolished.
On April 30, 1920, the Goryainovskaya volost was transferred from Pugachev district to Balakovo.
December 8, 1921 the establishment of Balakovo district was approved by the Central Executive Committee . The county included 20 volosts:

At the beginning of 1924, the number of volosts in Balakovo district was reduced to six: Balakovo-Prigorodnaya, Krasno-Yarskaya, Krivoluche-Surskaya, Malo-Bykovskaya, Nikolaevskaya and Sukho-Ostrozhskaya.
May 8, 1924 Balakovo district was abolished, and its territory was annexed to the Pugachev district.
