The history of weightlifting of the Kazakh SSR
The first championship of the republic took place in 1937. Starting from 1954, the weightlifters of Kazakhstan constantly set world and all-Union records and won high titles at major competitions. Stepan Ulyanov twice (1958 and 1960) won the title of champion of the USSR , set world records. A. Kolodkov, P. Kim, V. Dreksler, A. Khrapaty and S. Filimonov repeatedly set world and all-union records. Vasily Mazheykov ( Alma-Ata ) in 1975 won the silver medal at the World Championships, Anatoly Khrapaty - winner of the Olympic Games ( Seoul , 1988), repeated champions of the world, Europe, the USSR, the Games of the Peoples of the USSR , Yuri Zaitsev became the winner of the Olympics in Montreal ( Canada 1976), and Victor Mazin won the Moscow Olympics (1980). After the collapse of the Soviet Union, it was A. Khrapaty who brought the first medal of the world weightlifting championship to already independent Kazakhstan. S. In 2009, at the World Championships in Goyang City ( South Korea ) - 4 gold medals and the second team place. Among them are 16-year-old Zulfiya Chinshanlo (who entered the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest world champion) and Svetlana Podobedova , who won the "gold".
At the 2012 London Olympics, Kazakhstan's weightlifters won 4 gold medals: Ilya Ilyin , Svetlana Podobedova , Maya Maneza and Zulfiya Chinshanlo . But then all four were disqualified by the International Olympic Committee for the use of doping [1] . Moreover, the last three are not students of Kazakhstani sports, but Chinese and Russian migrant workers, naturalized by the Federation and already having problems with doping [2] .
Weightlifting Federation
The Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was formed in 1992 to develop this sport in Kazakhstan , which is part of the program of the Summer Olympic Games . The Federation is a member of the International Weightlifting Federation and the Asian Weightlifting Federation .
