Kuzomensky volost as part of the Kola district was formed in 1841 by the merger of Varzuzhskaya and Umba volosts. In 1858, in connection with the liquidation of the Kola district, the volost went to the Kemsky district. In 1861, Kuzomensky volost was transformed into a rural society, and Umba rural society was allocated from its structure. In 1866, the Kuzomen rural community again became a volost. In 1883, Kuzomenskaya volost entered the new Kola district (in 1899 it was renamed to Alexandrovsky).
On March 1, 1920, village councils were created in Kuzomenskaya volost: Varzugsky , Kashkarasky and Kuzomensky . However, already on June 2, the Kuzomensky s / s was abolished (restored May 14, 1921).
In 1921, the Kuzomenskaya volost entered the new Murmansk province.
August 1, 1927 Kuzomenskaya volost was abolished. Its entire territory entered the Tersky district .
