Play career
Dimofenis Dikoudis grew up in Larissa and spent his early years in professional basketball at the local Olympia club , where he won the reputation of a rising star. In 1998 , at the age of 21, he became the leader of the Greek national team in the youth (under 22) European Championships, leading the team unsuccessfully enough to speak in terms of the number of points and rebounds per game (11.3 and 6.1, respectively) [1] . After signing the contract with the AEK club in the same year, he soon became one of the best heavy forwards of Greek basketball. In 2000 and 2001, he won the Hellenic Cup with AEK and twice in a row, and in 2000 - the Saporta Cup . In 2001, Dikoudis already took part in the European Championships as part of the adult Greek team . At the end of the 2001/2002 season, he became the champion of Greece with AEK, gaining an average of 16.3 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per game [2] , and was recognized as the MVP (most valuable player) of the championship. Three years in a row (in 2001, 2002 and 2003 ) he took part in the all-star match of the Greek League A1.
After two unsuccessful attempts at a draft in the NBA, Dikudis left Greece in 2003, joining the Spanish team Pamesa (Valencia) , and in the 2004/2005 season, he played for CSKA Moscow , becoming the champion and Russian Cup winner. In CSKA, he scored an average of 8.7 points per game in the Russian championship and 10 points in the Euroleague matches. In 2005, Dikoudis with the Greek national team became the European champion in basketball. His best games came in the quarterfinal with the Russian team (11 points, 5 rebounds in 30 minutes) and the semi-finals with the French team (14 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes) [3] . The following year, with the national team, Dickoudis won the Continental Champions Cup, and won silver medals at the World Championships . At the World Championships, he scored an average of 6.8 points per game and made 2.6 rebounds, and in the winning semifinal meeting with the US team his performance was higher - 8 points and 4 rebounds in 12 minutes of the game. In the final against the Spaniards , however, he was almost imperceptible, not having made a single throw on the ring in 14 minutes at the site [4] .
In the 2006/2007 season, Dikoudis returned to Greece, signing a contract with the leaders of the Greek basketball team Panathinaikos . As part of Panathinaikos, he won two titles of champion of Greece and two cups of Greece, and also won the Euroleague in the 2006/2007 season. In 2007, for the fourth time in his career, he took part in the all-star match of the Greek Championship. After the end of the contract with Panathinaikos, he joined Valencia for the third time in his career, but in November 2008 he was bought up by another Greek team, Panionios [5] . Later, he played for the Greek clubs Aris (with which he reached the quarterfinal of the European Cup , where he lost to his former club from Valencia), AEK (after spending his sixth season for this club in 2010/2011) and PAOK . He completed his career at the age of 35 in 2012.
