Izhevsk Ring Road (IKAD, Bypass Road) is a ring road under construction around Izhevsk [1] [2] . The construction of the bypass road was caused by the need to unload the streets of the capital of Udmurtia from transit vehicles passing through it from the M7 ( P320 and P321 ), P322 roads.
Construction work began in 2002 . As of 2012, ICAD is built at about 55%. By 2015, it is planned to complete the construction of the south-eastern and north-eastern sections, as a result of which all bypass roads around Izhevsk should be closed in a ring [3] . The total length of the ring at the same time will be 96 km, which is 13 km shorter than the MKAD [4] .

History
The construction of the road was started in 2002 from the 3rd start-up complex of the western half-ring, which was commissioned in 2005 and connected the Yakshur-Bodinsky highway with the Shaberdinsky.
On October 15, 2004, a 14 km long section of the eastern half ring was opened [5] , connecting the Golyansky Highway and the Votkinskoye Highway .
In 2005, construction began on the 1st start-up complex of the western half-ring, 13.6 km long. After commissioning, this section connected the Mozhginsky tract, the Uvinsky tract and the Izhevsk- Lenino highway.
At the end of 2006, construction and installation work began on the 2nd launch complex of the western bypass of Izhevsk.
On September 8, 2008, the ceremonial opening of the “Bypass of Izhevsk on the access road to Perm” highway (the ICAD western half ring), 39 km long, took place [6] . During construction, 5 bridges and 4 overpasses were built [7] .
In 2009, the western semiring ring was commissioned.
In October 2011, the Minister of Transport and Roads of Udmurtia O. Garin announced plans to complete the construction of the eastern half ring, which would require nearly 30 billion rubles [8] .

Description
IKAD consists of western and eastern half-rings connecting Mozhginsky and Yakshur-Bodinsky tracts, respectively, from the west and from the east. Only the western semiring is completely constructed. A section of a bypass road was built near the eastern semi-ring of ICAD connecting the Golyansky highway with the Votkinsky highway. However, despite the incompleteness of construction, the ring of bypass roads around Izhevsk is already closed due to the presence of old bypass roads connecting the Yakshur-Bodinsky highway with the Votkinsky highway, and the Golyansky highway with Mozhginsky.
The General Plan adopted in 2006 for the city of Izhevsk envisages the construction of new bypass roads in the north-east and south-east of ICAD, which should be further from the city than the existing ones [10] . After their construction, the eastern half ring will become a natural continuation of the western one.
